Here are the top 10 things I have learned the hard way, on my own fat loss journey. Hopefully this list will help you to not face the same road blocks on your path to wellness.
- You have to count calories OR be very strict on your portion sizes.
- Its so important to keep your NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis) level up, which translates to move, move, move throughout the day. Not just during your workout session.
- A good playlist can make all the difference between one kick butt workout and 45 minutes of well…torture.
- A typical 1/2 cup of dry oatmeal does NOT weigh 40 grams, as the side of the container claims. (Go experiment for yourself. You will see there is a big difference, and those extra calories add up fast.)
- Foam Rolling can move mountains in terms of achieving the “long and lean” look.
- Spray butter is NOT zero calories when you have a trigger happy spray finger… nor is it a whole food. Pitch it and opt for a squeeze of lemon instead.
- Rest days are our friend, and are absolutely necessary in achieving fat loss.
- Carbs are not the enemy.
- It IS possible to have too much of a good thing. i.e. broccoli overload. (Refer back to #1)
- Track your weight and measurements and take pictures once a week. You will thank me after you have reached your goal and look back on where you came from.
