Pierre - it sounds like what you do is similar to a "walking meditation" which is totally awesome too. Taping into the good feeling thoughts, and listening to our inner voice is so important, and something that we often tend to not do as well, in favor of other more task oriented thoughts. Keep up the "tapping in" to whatever feels good and connects you to your inner self.

I always try to do my daily workout early in the morning because of two reason, one, to have it done. Two because the city is still sleeping, especially on weekends. Like you I also listen to inspirational audio while I run or walk but from time to time I leave my Iphone home. It's such a great feeling just to walk/run and just smell, look and feel.

But for me is also relaxing to make up plans and trying to figure out where I'm right now. I know that's not tapping into the now. But it gives my great satisfaction.

Ashley - I agree, if you aren't used to being "unplugged" it can be sort of a naked feeling! Ha.

Blake and Stefan - I feel so much more connected to nature when I run/walk/get outdoors without distracting myself. Its become so socially accepted to carry an iPod/mp3 player/phone everywhere we go. People constantly have some sort of technology strapped to their heads. I think it is so refreshing to just stop, and live in the moment, becoming aware of all the beauty that is around us, whether we are on the subway or next to a tranquil flowing river. We can find peace and joy anywhere, we just have to look for it.

I never use my iPod.
I feel like it prevents me from focusing.

sometimes i'll leave the iPod at home while I go on a bike ride or run. I do enjoy it from time to time. When i do that I notice the things around me more (mountains, the river, etc.). Thanks for the post! I enjoyed it.

Thanks for the image of the fall leaves, chipmunks etc. I felt like I was right on the path with you - no ipod. I remember getting unplugged for the first time after using my mp3 for a couple of months. I was a bit ...panicked, but eventually I relaxed and experienced the same enjoyment you write of.

What a good reminder. Thank you.
