Sometimes it is really tough to give gifts, isn’t it? You want to give something really great, something that has meaning. You want the gift-receiver to open it and think, “Wow, what a great idea! How thoughtful!”
But some people are just plain tough to buy for. So, to help get your creative-shopping juices flowing, here is a list of my favorite gift ideas for this holiday season.
Nutrition
Gourmet Nutrition Cookbook – This is a great cookbook for the health aficionado who has everything. Not only are the recipes fantastic, but the pictures will make your taste buds go off like fireworks.
Edible Arrangements – No, not edible undies, edible arrangements…of fruit. Check it out.
Customizable You Bars – Nutrition bars customized to your liking. What a cool idea! I have not tried them myself, but have heard they are great. Today is the last day for Express Mail shipping (sorry for the late notice).
Nielsen-Massey Vanilla Extract – This vanilla is so flavorful. They also sell other types of extracts, such as lemon, coffee, chocolate, orange, and peppermint to name a few. Great specialty item.
Super Natural Cooking: Five Ways To Incorporate Whole and Natural Ingredients into Your Cooking – Another great resource for healthy cooking. All of the recipes are vegetarian. I like this book because not only does Heidi, the author provide healthy recipes, but she also includes a section that teaches about the various healthy, innovative ingredients available on the market.
Schuil Coffee – The best flavored gourmet coffee ever. My personal favorites are Mackinaw Island Fudge and German Chocolate (with actual pieces of coconut and pecan in the bag), but there are so many flavors to choose from.
Stainless Steel Food Scale – A must in any kitchen. Great idea for the healthy eating newbie and veteran alike.
DEAN & DELUCA Spice Rack – Such a cute idea for someone who just moved into their own place and needs some help getting their pantry stocked.
Cuisinart 14-cup Food Processor – Excellent for chopping, blending dry ingredients, making pesto, hummus, and more. A little pricey, but this is a wonderful idea for a group gift.
Mind and Spirit
Star Wars Trilogy – You would be surprised how much wisdom can be found behind the facade of this action trilogy. Great “fun” gift for the deep thinker.
Atlas Shrugged – What is the meaning of life? Who do you live for? This book, a story of philosophical revolution, told in the form of an action thriller, has been a best seller since it was published over four decades ago. It’s and excellent gift for those that are interested in inspiration, personal growth, or even just a great story of heroes and villains, good and evil.
Quotable Mugs – Awesome 14 oz. ceramic matte finish mugs with really the same inspiring quotes. Great stocking stuffer or gift for the host.
Fitness
Polar Heart Rate Monitor – This is the HRM that I use to track my calories and heart rate during my workouts. I love it because it keeps me on my toes and is a visible indicator for me so that I know when I need to push myself harder.
Rock and Run iPod/Nike Sport Sensor – This little sensor allows the user to customize and track their workout and then download the stats to their computer afterward. Another cool feature is you can virtually train together with friends in far away places that also have the sensor.

Ah Atlas Shrugged! That’s my favorite book ever! I probably need to pick it up and read it again (for the 11th time!). It’s been a while.
