Sometimes I take trips to the mall, specifically to walk through William Sonoma. I get some of my most creative healthy meal ideas just by passing through. Now, I am the type of person who likes to look. I also like to “just smell” food. I love the smell of fresh baked goods, or when you walk by a restaurant that has a wood burning oven. So sometimes, pictures are just as good for me as eating whatever it is that I like to splurge on. Yes, I am strange, but again looking at wonderful food creations inspires me to go home and make my own tweaked versions.
Here are a few things that caught my eye upon my last trip.
Bouchon is one of my FAVORITE restaurants in Las Vegas. The food is out of this world. Ryan and I went for brunch on our last trip and we had the most amazing beignets. Mmm… So you can imagine my excitement when I saw these!
Again, not exactly an integral part of a healthy diet, but you know my thought… in moderation, special splurges are A-Ok with me.
Speaking of Beignets
They are featured in the William Sonoma Brunch cookbook…
What a fantastic idea. I can think of so many wonderful things to pack inside of little pockets of pancakes. From fruity jams, to chocoloate, to PEANUT BUTTER… oh my gosh, the sky is the limit. You could even do savory. Pizza pockets, meatloaf pockets, cheese and veggie pockets. HEAVEN. I would use wheat flour, ground oats, and/or a bit of flaxseed meal mixed in, if (when) I make these at home.
Pizza is on my list of top 5 favorite foods, so I am always interested in new recipe ideas. This cookbook had a ton of fabulous ideas, along with this indoor grill. I haven’t had grilled pizza in quite a while.
So if you are planning a special meal, especially with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, I challenge you to get out and use your environment for inspiration. Sometimes the most amazing meals are created this way.
