AC - I store mine in the freezer in a zip top bag, and just take it out, use what I need, and put it back.

How long does the flaxseed meal keep fresh? Should I freeze half of the pack?

This is the flaxseed meal I use regularly and I highly recommend it. I like the taste of the golden and it shows up less in baked goods, so people don't notice you snuck it in.

Hi Ashley - The nutritional difference between the two is really negligable. The only real difference that I have found is taste/texture. Golden flaxseed has more of a buttery, nutty flavor and the outer shell seems softer than the dark. Otherwise, they are basically just two different colors of the same seed.
