Stretch Your Way to Fitness

Another giveaway!! YAY, don’t we all just love a chance at winning goodies?? Details below…

In this video, I share my top 3 faaaavorite stretches, which I do at least once a day. As both an active worker-outer AND a person who often spends quality time with her laptop, I know the benefits of stretching first hand. Stretching is an important part of any fitness routine, so we’ve got to make sure we time time to help our muscles relax. The hips, the chest, and the butt/hamstrings are all areas that tend to get tight when working out AND/OR sitting for long periods at a desk. Try ‘em out, you will soon be as addicted to stretching as I am.

My favorite stretch is the Pigeon! It’s a killer but it works wonders on the glutes and hamstrings! This is where I really get tensed up from running!

My favorite way to calm anxiety is to tighten/breathe in and release/breathe out each major muscle group – it’s super calming.

After a good ab workout, I like the stretch where, from facedown on your stomach, you push up your chest and keep your legs on the ground. I’ll definitely have to try your stretches too!

Hey Sheila,
I also love pigeon pose, and I think that for anyone who spends even a modest amount of time at a desk, it is a real winner! My personal favorite is the seated prayer twist. It may not be the most passive stretch, but it has such a gentle spinal twist that it envigourates my body one side at a time. I always sleep better when my spine feels decompressed :)
Great post..as usual!

I also love pigeon pose. My hamstrings get so tight I should be doing it several times a day…

Nice! I don’t have a blog but I have a FB page…does that count? My favorite stretching pose in Dancers pose. It requires such focus that all other stressors must be put on the back burner. I feel like a million bucks when I’m done!

My favorite stretch is the pidgeon stretch — pretty much that first one you’re doing. It’s because I need it! Very badly!
