I love waking up on my own, without an alarm. Today I woke up to the sound of the rain outside. Kinda peaceful and cozy. I debated on going to yoga, but Ryan said he would go with me if I went tomorrow instead, so today is a rest day for me.
I had to venture out before breakfast to have blood drawn on an empty stomach… not exactly my favorite thing to do, but I haven’t had it done in a while, and I’m really interested to find out where I am at. It’s a full panel.
When I sat down in the chair I felt fine, but then the guy was having trouble with my vein… apparently I have “rollers” so he had to start over twice. I looked at my arm after the first time, and there was a little puddle of blood where he pulled the needle out. And, this marked the beginning of my downward spiral. I started seeing the black splotchies, and tried to ignore it. By the time he tried again and still couldn’t get it, I had to tell him I wasn’t feeling well. I had to put my head between my knees. What the crap?! This never happens to me?!
A few minutes later it passed and I ended up having to go lay down on a bed, and another woman-blood-taker-person came in and did it there. Whew! Glad that is overwith. And… glad I decided not to go to yoga afterward.
Breakfast
While we made breakfast, I had a few hadfuls of Barbara’s shredded oats as a snack.
Yesterday Ryan brought this little cutie home from Gelson’s grocery store – a baby pineapple. How fun! Not sure what we are going to do with it yet. Makes me want to make pina coladas. Haha!
My doctor told me to limit eating pork, so we decided to try out this Welshire beef bacon.
It DID NOT look appealing to me nor did it smell like bacon as it cooked. I tried a little piece and it just tasted like beef, and for some reason, that was not tasty at all to me, so I didn’t have any. Bacon is supposed to be smokey and a little salty and crispy, and this was none of those things. Boo. I’ve learned that if I don’t like something, I would rather just not eat it than eat it and then later think, why did I eat that??
So I just had my pancake! Yes, I am somewhat a creature of habit. I know what I like, so I tend to stick to what I know I like a lot.
Blueberries… and peanut butter and agave.
With a mug of French Toast flavored coffee (with vanilla stevia and Organic Pastures raw whole milk).
Snack
For a snack I had a small gingersnap cookie and a handful of salt and pepper pistachios while we decided whether or not to go out to dinner or stay in and make something and watch a movie…
Ryan had a few south of the border flavorerd pistachios as well…
Dinner
We decided to stay home and make a breakfast pizza… after we ran up to the store to get a few ingredients. We used this dough recipe except Ryan made it with whole wheat all purpose flour today. We topped the pizza with pizza sauce, 3 slices of bacon, diced, cooked, and crumbled (our usual bacon, not the beef bacon), some wilted spinach, mozzarella, gouda, and Asadero cheese, 3 eggs, and a little salt and pepper on top.
It was soooo good. I started with one piece, but came back for a second.
I also had a Blue Moon with a super sweet Paramount Farms orange.
We watched the movie, “Slumdog Millionaire.” Yep, we’ve never seen it. What an awesome movie. It gives me so many things to be grateful for. I really feel so blessed.
We bought a tiny Green and Black’s 70% dark chocolate bar (200 cals total) and a pint of low-fat vanilla yogurt for dessert. We cut up the chocolate into chunks and sprinkled it over the yogurt.
Thanks for joining me on a week long look at what I eat! Happy Saturday everyone!

Hey Shelia,
I have to tell you, your blog is really becoming a favorite! I check it daily!! You have given me so many wonderful ideas and tips! I’d love a myth buster type post. Looking at your food choices, you certainly don’t demonize carbs in the evening or eating sugar. It’s soo refreshing! Can you please do a post on this topic..maybe common food myths that you have proven just aren’t Gospel.
Hi Tracey! Thanks so much for your comment. I’m not really a mythbuster in that sense, and haven’t proven anything in particular. I just eat what I like in moderation, and use Saturdays as a day where I don’t limit myself to eating carbs only up to a certain time of day, etc. Typically I would try to get more protein in than this, but this particular day, this is what I felt like eating, and since I’m not on a serious fat loss program, I decided to eat what sounded good, in appropriate portion sizes. Normally Monday through Friday I tend to keep my starchy carbs earlier in the day. I did write this post Fat Loss Meal Plans and Tips where I went through some of the major things that helped me in my fat loss journey, but I haven’t done any actual studies to prove these findings. The best I can do for proven food facts is refer you to one of my resources like The Fat Loss Troubleshooter which has many studies and really looks at the science behind fat loss.
Thanks Shelia, I too purchased The Fat Loss Troubleshooter..so embarrassed to say I haven’t read through the whole thing. I know, shame on me! I’ll check out the link you posted on Meal Plans and Tips! BTW: Thank you so much for suggesting this fish oil(in a previous post): Life Extension, Super Omega-3, EPA/DHA with Sesame Lignans & Olive Fruit Extract
I love it!
Is it still your favorite?
Yep, those are the ones. I haven’t found any that I like better.
Okay,thank you!
BTW: Do you use a calcium supplement? If so,what brand do you like?
Hey Tracey – no, I don’t use a calcium supplement.
Oh my gosh that all looks amazing! Mmmm pizza.
I’ve been dreaming about that pizza all week. Ryan wants to make it again this weekend. LOL.
That looks amazing. Did you just crack the eggs on the pizza before you make it? I’ve never made a breakfast pizza. I’d love a real recipe.
Hi Sheila!!
This is my first time writing, thought I’ve been a lurker for some time. I love your site, and congrats on your weight loss, you look great!
I wanted to ask you if you could kindly post for us a sample of a Clean Diet grocery list? I want to start doing what you are doing, with no cheats, but need to know what to geT? would really appreciate it! I am sure many would benefit from it also!
Cheers!
Welcome Susan! I actually created this list a while back, but just updated it a bit… especially for you.
