We are halfway through the holidays…only one more biggie to go, and that my friends is the most inspirational holiday of all. New Years. A fresh start. A new year to begin again. Now is the time when we all begin to think of what changes we want to make for the next year. We ask, “What does this new year mean for me? How can I more fully follow my passion or live a life of wellness?”
One of the major topics that comes to mind is fat loss. I have a lot of people ask me about the details of my fat loss journey. How I was able to lose the extra weight, once and for all, and then keep it off. In my fat loss story, I talked about how Leigh Peele, and the principles of her fat loss program, the Fat Loss Troubleshoot, had a profound impact on my results and the wisdom I have gained up to that point in my life, regarding fat loss.
I bring this up because Leigh is relaunching her Fat Loss Troubleshoot program and she has added some new, really exciting items to the package. But before I go into the details, I want to tell you something about Leigh, the trainer… something I have been thinking about that makes her special and different than many other trainers or fat loss specialists.
In my road toward fat loss, I asked A LOT of people for help. A lot of professionals even, including doctors and trainers. I would tell them my story, detailing my weight loss history, my meal plans, my training, etc and basically fill them in on the struggles that I had been facing up to that point. I can tell you, without fail, I would get a version of one of these responses:
- You are thin enough. Stop worrying about your weight.
- You are gaining muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat.
- You need to lift heavier and do less cardio.
- You just carry more muscle in your legs, which causes them to be bigger, so you will never be able to get rid of that extra size there. It’s the way you are. You can’t change it.
- Try {insert supplement here} to help you lose fat.
Can I just tell you how frustrating this was?!? I wanted to scream. At this point of my journey, I WAS overweight. I was not happy with my body. Granted, being thin or thinner is not by any means the end-all-be-all of happiness… but I knew that I could make changes for the better. I felt like the people I thought could help me, were not listening. They immediately plunked me right into a neat little category that they had defined. Not a category based on my goals, but a category based on what they thought I should be.
Personally, I think this is a HUGE deal, and a frustration that I know a lot of people face, maybe even you. To find a trainer or a doctor who 1) knows what they are talking about, and 2) listens to what YOU want, and creates a plan that will allow you to reach YOUR goal… is incredible.
This is what I found in Leigh. She “got” me, and she listened objectively to MY body-image vision. She didn’t try to push her vision onto me, of what she thought I should be, or what she was doing with her other clients. She took the information I gave her and she helped me to attain that goal.
Who is this new package for?
That is why I really think that her program ROCKS. Because it works for anyone and everyone. This collection truly covers everyone from a bodybuilder, to an athlete, to a mom or dad, or a college student looking to get rid of that dreaded freshman 15. Basically there is no one this program doesn’t cover.
Package Updates
So in this new relaunch of the package Leigh has made some changes, worked out those editing bugs that I mentioned in my previous review (of the original program), and added some really cool new materials.
Fat Loss Troubleshoot: 150 page book on everything that you want to know about fat loss.
Metabolic Repair Manual: A comprehensive book that covers thyroid issues, eating disorders, metabolic problems, and how to repair and rebuild a sluggish or even “dead” metabolism.
Fat Loss Troubleshoot Audio Program: This is my favorite part… the part I am really excited about.
This audio is a follow along for the FLT book, which is totally different that your typical audiobook. In this audio, Leigh discusses the topics of the book in greater detail, explaining the sections that are difficult to understand. I love this add-on because it is Leigh explaining the confusing stuff, going through, chapter by chapter and talking the listener through the book.
Audio books are so great for putting on your iPod and listening to when you are working out, on a long run, or even when you are driving in your car. To be honest, I listen to audio books even more than music these days while I workout. I have so many books that I want to read, this helps me to not only learn and grow, but also it helps my workouts to fly by! Multi-tasking at its best.
At the end of the follow along, Leigh also addresses five bonus question that readers often ask relating to fat loss. Great info.
OPT For Fat Loss: This is a rapid fat loss program for those looking to lose a large amount of weight in the healthiest manner possible, while preserving lean body mass and well, staying sane in the process. It includes a resistance program, aerobic program, diet program, warm up program, and a recovery (stretch) program, all customizable to fit YOU and your needs.
OPT For Fat Loss Remix: This is a body recomposition program for those looking to lose that last bit of fat using a slower approach in order to allow lifting to shine or get really low levels of body fat while maintaining muscle. It is also a program geared toward those that have sensitive hormones that need more structured planning. It is hardcore and for those that are seriously serious.
The Maintenance Manual: This is the manual that helps you to maintain your weight loss and keep it off. It includes all the stuff that you never knew about what to expect AFTER you lose the weight. Yes, you should expect to gain a little weight back {gasp!}, you are supposed to, so plan for it. It includes diet and training strategies, and how to safely implement techniques like the “starve day” and hell week.
The Water Manual: This is the how-to manual on water manipulation for purposes like contest and photo shoot prep or hormone fluctuation (ahem, ladies take note for reducing bloat during that certain time of the month).
A few key points touched on are:
- carbs and water retention
- adrenals and water balance
- electrolytes
- sodium
- test if you are carrying excess water
Meal Plans 2.0: A meal plan guide in grams ranging from 1200 to 2400 calories a day, which also illustrates how to adjust the meal sizes and ingredient amounts for your specific calorie intake.
Other Extras…
- Psych-Goal Sheet
- Training-Aerobic Log
- Training-Lifting Log
- Troubleshoot Checklist
Overall, this is great plan and provides exactly what is needed to start shedding some serious fat. Sometimes we need to take that leap of faith, trusting that if we are truly ready to make the change, to start living what we have been saying we want to live, we’ve got to dive in and just do it. If you are ready to start the journey toward your best life, and that journey includes leaning out once and for all, I can’t think of a better program to get you to that vision.
So what are you waiting for? Check out the Fat Loss Troubleshoot for yourself!

Sheila THANK YOU for this post!
I just got the package and looking through it I am really excited. It is more than worth the money. Two full books and audio would be more than this at a bookstore. Leigh is earning her way into my heart everyday and I wouldn’t have found it had it not been for you. Do you have any plans of releasing anything yourself? Anything with Leigh?
Cindy, so glad I could help!
Ryan and I have a few things up our sleeve for 2009. I am going to leave you in suspence for now (MUAHAHA…evil laugh), but I will spill the beans as soon as I can.
Hey Sheila!
Based on your glowing review,I too purchased Leigh’s new E-book. Looks like it holds a ton of great info, can’t wait to start reading. I really like that it has an audio aspect to the book. I find I retain stuff better when being read to vs reading. I’ll keep you posted on how things go!
Awesome Tracey! Can’t wait to hear how you progress!
I’m reading this now and I love it! Leigh has a way of explaining the most complex of ideas in the simplest of terms. I love how she says, “Fat is your fault” b/c if you give ownership to the problem, you can solve it. At first, I really didn’t like that statement but the more I thought about it, the more RIGHT it was!
Nicole – I absolutely agree with Leigh. If we take full responsibility, we are owning our power. To give it away, or place it on something else, takes away our feeling of our ability to change it. Glad you are lovin the book!
